Learn more about the Basset Hound.
Duke is a 15 month old male, tricolor basset who is super adorable, playful, friendly, and cuddly. He is small for a basset at only 34 lbs. He loves people and loves to cuddle. He also loves all dogs and cannot get enough playtime. He is adaptable and fit in easily at his foster home. He walks fairly well on a leash but does do some pulling. He manages well in a car but does climb around a bit so he may be better in a crate. He is crate trained although he can whine and bark if he sees something exciting outside his crate. He sleeps well through the night in his crate. His foster mom has not witnessed any destructive behaviors but he does love toys.
Duke does have a little problem reading other dogs' social cues and he can continue to try to play with other dogs even if they get upset with him. Foster mom calls him a little overbearing. He means well but is a little socially awkward. This part of his personality, it would be best for him to be in a home without cats or small dogs. He is partially housetrained and does use a doggy door. His foster mom is working with him and he is getting better but he will need further work with housetraining from his adopter.
He is very healthy and is neutered. Duke has a wonderful spirit and can be a terrific lifelong friend with just a little more guidance and training. microchip is a Furreka and will need to be processed differently. No Furreka in the drop down so put the chip as a datamars. More about Duke (Sacramento)Good with Dogs Other Pictures of Duke (Sacramento) (click to see larger version):
